Although it may sound daunting to a novice knitter, changing colours when you’re knitting really is so easy. The video above shows you how to make coloured stripes using stocking stitch.

Want to put your skills into practise? Then check out this free bonus pattern here for a striped pot holder. We recommend customising it by adding lines of running stitch in a contrast colour at either side of the colour change.

Colour changes are common in projects throughout Knit and Stitch Creative magazine collection and can be used in a variety of ways – in a jumper such as our Colourblock sweater (Issue 8), in cute furniture socks (Issue 9) and our felted vase in Issue 14.
