In Knit and Stitch Creative’s Christmas Special we featured an adorably cute make – mini stockings! In the magazine we suggested that you fill them with gifts and treats or use as an adorable cutlery holder, but there’s so many more things you can do with them.

Here are our suggestions – do you have any more? What are you using the stockings for? Leave us a comment below with your thoughts!

1. Nifty needle holder

These little stockings are perfect for storing your most-used knitting needles or crochet hooks. Put them next to your knitting stash and you’ll be in a wonderfully festive mood all December!

2. Awesome advent calendar

Make 24 mini stockings and create a beautiful advent calendar you can hang up each year. Remember to add numbers onto each one – cut the numbers out of felt, stitch them, or use wooden numbers – the choice is yours. Remember to put a chocolate coin inside for each day.

3. Practical pencil case

Our Deputy Editor has currently filled her little stocking with pens and pencils in an attempt to bring more Christmas cheer to the CreaCrafts team. It’s a good way of making sure your pens aren’t lost under mounds of paper!

4. Cute carrot holder

Rudolph’s hard at work on Christmas Eve and needs some snacks to keep going. Use the stocking as a carrot holder and place by your milk and cookies for Father Christmas. We reckon this reindeer would love a stocking that matches the colour of his nose.

5. Delightful decoration

Add a loop to each stocking at the top according to the magazine instructions and stitch each person in your household’s name onto them. Then hang up on the Christmas tree for a personal touch.

The Christmas special is available to buy here and in all good retailers.
