Crafty campaigners!

1805

Our website is all about getting crafty so we were excited to see news of a Campaign for Creativity at the Spring Knitting & Stitching show – currently on at London’s Olympia. This campaign aims to get creativity back into the school curriculum and has set up a petition with a difference – the signatures are stitched!

The campaign is calling for more and better opportunities for school children to be creative and to think creatively – creativity is vital to child development and helps support life skills such as problem solving, strategic thinking and resilience, as well as being a means of self expression and communication. Crafts have proven benefits for mental health later in life, so it’s important to introduce children to as many ways to get creative as possible.

Anyone interested in this campaign should go to the Knitting & Stitching Show website (www.theknittingandstitchingshow.com/spring/the-campaign-for-creativity/) for more information on how to get involved. The stitched signatures can be created in any way – embroidered, crocheted, knitted, cross stitched – the more inventive the better! A wall of signatures will be on display, so if you’re looking for inspiration give the show a visit (it’s on until 4th March). And if you’re new to stitched crafts, there will be someone on hand to help you get started on embroidering your signature. The finished signatures should be sent to:
