Knitting socks can sound difficult, as it requires small double-pointed needles,  a lot of precision, and the dreaded heel! Although knitted socks really aren’t as difficult as you’d think, in CreaCrafts’ Knit & Stitch Creative collection we’ve so far brought you two sets of socks that are easier to make.

Our first set of socks were kitten socks were featured in our Baby Animals special. They avoid the heel entirely, and are slouch-style instead. Knitted in the round with a set of four 2.25mm double-pointed needles and a set of four 3mm double-pointed needles, these cute cats will keep your feet warm, and are a great make for beginners who are starting to learn to knit on the round.

Another easier way of making socks is with an afterthought heel. We love these long bright and stripy ribbed socks from Issue 31, also knitted in the round with double-pointed needles. Afterthought heels are added once you have finished your socks to the toes, and are knitted separately by picking up stitches. We think this is a great idea – and the texture of the heels make a real statement!
