Do you enjoy working up the squares for your throw? It’s great watching the store of finished squares building up, isn’t it? And of course, there’s also the fun of learning new stitches – with every square you’re building up a library of patterns you can use over and over again.
In issue 37 we’re introducing you to little zigzag stitch. As the name suggest, this stitch creates a zigzag pattern over the fabric. It’s made by crossing stitches in a particular sequence – and to do this you’ll need a cable needle.
Then we’ve put the stitch to good use and created a pattern for a cotton headband. Made in an Aran-weight cotton yarn, this headband makes a great accessory for your summer wardrobe. It’s perfect for keeping your hair out of your eyes on a hot day. We’ve used a vibrant shade of turquoise that works with the bold stitch pattern, but you could pick any colour you like – why not make several so you’ve one to match any outfit?
Remember to share your creations with us – why not send in a pic of yourself wearing your headband?
