If you were one of our first Knit & Stitch Creative subscribers in the UK, your Knit & Stitch Creative subscription will be well underway by now. Today, we’re extending a special welcome to a new group who will be joining us this week. Knit & Stitch Creative is launching right now in the USA and everyone at CreaCrafts HQ is excited to welcome our crafty American cousins into the fold.
So, for those of you just joining—USA or otherwise—here’s the lowdown on what to expect from your collection, and a few ideas to help you get the most out of the patterns and techniques you’ll find inside. If you’re new to knitting and crochet, you’ll find essential know-how in the first issues of Knit & Stitch Creative that will help you get started. But if you already have some experience, there are plenty of projects for you too. And as we also include features on crewel work and felting, there’s the prospect of some less familiar crafts to try as well.
Your weekly project: the throw
One of the best things about Knit & Stitch Creative is that every issue of the magazine comes with two balls of Crea yarn that you will be using to craft squares that are pieced together to form a gorgeous reversible throw. Later in the series you will also receive the yarn to make a set of complementary cushions. As well as the yarn, you’ll get all the instructions needed to make your squares (and the cushions).
Of course, you don’t need to play by the rules! We’ve seen some incredible work from knitters and crocheters who have used their growing confidence to head off-piste, swap out stitches and make the throw truly their own. Our tip for a successful finished project: if you swap a square for a pattern from another issue, make sure you use a similar yarn or you may end up with some odd-sized squares! If you’re not sure what to do, the CreaCrafts community is there to help. Find out more about the throw from designer Melanie Porter .
Things to make
Every issue includes a variety of different patterns for clothes, accessories and things to make for your home. If some of the patterns are too advanced right now, don’t worry—our guides will teach you the skills you’ll need along the way, and you can bookmark the best patterns as stretch goals for another time. There are even more patterns to download on CreaCrafts.com—look out for downloadable Bonus Patterns every few weeks.
Because we want you to have a chance to explore your own creativity, we have included special features on how to customize your projects—for example, learn how to make things like pompoms and tassels, or discover new embroidery stitches—plus some ideas on how to use your skills. You’ll be collecting new techniques as you collect the squares, which will become an invaluable stitch library. If you’re more of a visual learner, head over to the for step-by-step guides to the stitches you’ll use to make the throw.
So whether you’re new to knitting or an experienced crafter, there’s something in Knit & Stitch Creative for everyone. And as you join us on the crafting journey, don’t forget to share your triumphs (and even your disasters!) with the CreaCrafts community, on our Facebook page or using #CreaCrafts on Instagram.
