The Spring Knitting & Stitching Show at London’s Olympia saw the Crea team running their second stand at this great crafting event. The atmosphere was charged with creativity and excitement throughout the four days, and we were thrilled to meet so many lively and dedicated crafters and customers, both longstanding and brand new.
The stand attracted lots of attention, with new subscribers signing up for the magazine collection and snapping up kits and special editions. And everyone wanted to have a go at winning a Liberty voucher in our competition! Our experts answered questions about making the Knit&Stitch Creative throw, introduced some very young aspiring knitters to the joy of needlecraft, and ran stitch-along masterclasses. It was a welcome chance to sit down for a chat as well!
In the very few lulls, we took turns in visiting the rest of the show and savouring some of the many good things on offer. The Textile Galleries showcased glorious and rare knitwear pieces from Zandra Rhodes, ethereal fabric sculptures by the ‘Woolly Queen’, Catherine Kaufman, and fanciful landscape collages constructed from found pieces by Ariella Green. The Quilters’ Guild showed a fascinating display of Modern Sampler quilts, showing how four basic quilt blocks can be used in different ways – the original designed by Helen Howes.
And everywhere, but everywhere, visitors were joining in, sharing, stitching, upcycling and taking up new challenges! A big thank you to all who came to see us – lovely to meet and talk to you, the very people who inspire us to do what we do!
